How to Activate Microsoft Office on a New Laptop in India
Office activation is usually straightforward and occasionally maddening. The process below covers both the normal path and the three things that actually go wrong.
Before you start
- Check whether Office is already licensed. Many laptops ship with a pre-installed trial or an included licence. Open any Office app, go to File, then Account. If it says the product is activated, you are done.
- Remove old Office installations. Multiple versions on one machine is the most common cause of activation confusion. Uninstall the old one first.

The activation process
- Download Office from Microsoft directly. Not from a third-party download link. Use the official site or the Microsoft Store.
- Install and open any app — Word is fine.

- Confirm activation. File, then Account. It should show the product as activated along with the licence type.
